Sunday School at EHP

EHP welcomes all children to Sunday School throughout the months of September to June. We have several programs for our many families here at EHP. They provide a wonderful chance for new friendships to blossom, for children and youth to engage in the bible and experience faith, and to feel the presence of God in one another. They are as follows:

0-2 year olds are welcome in our wonderful basement nursery for supervised unstructured play. This allows parents to enjoy the service without worries or interruptions if they so choose.

Pre-School Class (ages 3-Junior Kindergarten)

in the Middle Room (main floor). The curriculum is Seasons of the Spirit and we have purchased bible story picture books for this age group.

Senior Kindergarten-Grade 6
in the upstairs Middle Room. We are using Power Express curriculum. Kids in each age group will circulate to a different station each week. The theme is Rebekah.

Grade 6 and up
These older kids also have their own class and teacher, where they explore spiritual questions in a more free form way, giving the kids a chance to talk about issues which resonate with them.

Special Events
Each Christmas, the children put on a musical, which is performed for the entire congregation. This is a great opportunity for kids to act out some of the bible, and get a chance to get on stage in a friendly and low-pressure atmosphere. Many of the children go on to become quite fearless in school talent shows and public performances as a result of their experience in these plays.

Each spring, the children take part in making a film, where they get to explain what some spiritual issues mean to them. The film is only shown to the congregation.

BORED SILLY?
For restless (10 and under) congregants, we have a selection of toys and activities at the back of the church. Please help yourself and enjoy! (Kindly return to baskets/table provided at the end of the service thanks!)

Each of the Sunday School classes has its own teacher for the year, but each class also requires volunteers to assist every week. If you have children in any of our programs, or even if you do not, please consider helping out – our volunteers usually sign up to assist for a 6 week stint, and it would greatly be appreciated. It is truly a joy to feel the presence of God in our children while helping out in class.
